REGINA (CP) -- A Regina law firm has filed a lawsuit after a northern Saskatchewan school was left out of the massive residential schools settlement proposed by the federal government last month. Lawyer Tony Merchant says more than 1,500 Metis people may go uncompensated because the residential school in Ile a la Crosse was left off the list of schools covered by the $2-billion agreement. "We argued within the settlement that Ile a la Crosse ought to be included," said Merchant, who filed papers for a proposed class-action suit in Court of Queen's Bench Friday.
