There had been no word in Iraq by early Sunday from militants holding four Christian peace activists, including two Canadians – even though they had threatened to kill the captives if their demands weren't met by a Saturday deadline. The friends and families of the activists passed the time anxiously, continuing vigils, prayers and pleas for their safe release. Harmeet Singh Sooden and James Loney The men – Canadians James Loney, 41, and Harmeet Singh Sooden, 32, Briton Norman Kember, 74, and American Tom Fox, 54 – were working for the human-rights organization Christian Peacemaker Teams when they were abducted at gunpoint in Baghdad on Nov. 26.
