Two days have passed since the deadline set by kidnappers holding four peace activists hostage, including two Canadians, in Iraq and no news had emerged last night as to their fate. Family and friends of the hostages have endured growing anxiety as they wait for word of the four peacemakers who are being held by an unknown Iraqi group calling itself the Swords of Righteousness Brigades. "We thought we'd hear something in the early hours of the morning today [Sunday] or at least by now," Ed Loney, brother of Toronto hostage, James Loney, said yesterday. "We're definitely hungry to hear something," he added. "Anything at this point."
