GlaxoSmithKline is accused of manipulating trial data submitted to the FDA on its asthma drug salmeterol. October 6, 2005 A correspondence in a leading medical journal that will be published on Saturday accuses GlaxoSmithKline of manipulating the data it sent to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in order to convince the agency that its asthma drug salmeterol carried fewer risks than is really the case. The accusation by Director Sidney M. Wolfe and Deputy Director Peter Lurie of the Citizen’s Health Research Group in Washington, D.C., will be published in The Lancet.
