TORONTO - The worst damage being reported is bits of plaster falling from the ceiling -- during a small earthquake yesterday in southern Georgian Bay. The 4.2 quake was centered about 45 kilometres away from Owen Sound. Janet Drysdale, a seismologist with the Geological Survey of Canada, says the area doesn't often have quakes. "We certainly don't have many earthquakes in this region, so it does catch people by surprise. I wouldn't expect any damage, except maybe a nick-nack falling off of a shelf. A magnitue 4.2 will definitely be felt by people... and they'll wonder what it is. It may feel like a truck hitting their house." Drysdale says the quake could have been felt up to 100 kilometres from Georgian Bay just east of Owen Sound. Officials say there could be a few small aftershocks today.
